Milstensgården's preschool

At Milstensgården's preschool in Borås, literature takes center stage. Since 2020, the preschool has had a literature diploma, an award that confirms their dedicated work with books and reading. With initiatives such as author visits, an own preschool library and conversations about literature, they have created a unique learning environment that inspires both children and educators.

Now Milstensgården is taking another step in its language promotion work by using Readioo, an innovative tool that makes traditional children's books interactive with the help of a reading pen.

When the interactive books were introduced, the children were allowed to explore them on their own and they quickly caught their interest. By pointing to different parts of the book, they could control the narration themselves, which created both curiosity and engagement. Readioo proved to be a way of deepening their relationship with books and eliciting reflections and conversations.

One child was particularly drawn to a page that read "daddy gone". The child repeatedly tapped on the image, showing how the child not only interacted with the book, but also related to the content.

The preschool had several clear goals in introducing Readioo:

  • Awaken a love of reading and curiosity by letting children experience books in a new and engaging way.
  • Stimulate language and communication development by combining sound and image in an interactive experience.
  • Promote reflection and questions about the content of the stories and create a stronger connection to the children's own experiences.
